The Partnership Myth

Negotiation of strategic partnerships. That’s how I spend a considerable amount of my days and evenings. To be an effective negotiator in my field, it is important that I create situations where at least three separate parties, all with unique desires, goals, and levels of engagement, all feel good about the realized results. The primary active parties are my company and the partner I’m negotiating with, both of whom wish to drive revenue or enhance their value in some manner. This is a normal p… Continue

Job Sites and The San Francisco Gold Rush

The final two months of 2008 resulted in a precipitous decline in job posting activity on our site as the economy began to tumble off the cliff, to paraphrase Warren Buffett's sentiments. Elevator Pitch of the Recruiting Front Lines blog

First, a word of thanks to the MaineHR Cafe for giving me this great idea. You can see the MaineHR Cafe elevator pitch by clicking here. As I read that recently, I was reminded that it's important to routinely share the motivation, purpose, and hopes associated with a blog to let help new visitors and subscribers understand the intended perspective.

Here's a go at why I write the Recruiting FContinue

At JobsInTheUS, we're doing well by doing good- anyone else?

On Tuesday of this week, nearly 20,000 business leaders in ME, NH, VT, and RI arrived to work to find a note from JobsInME, JobsInNH, JobsInVT, or JobsInRI, offering their support in these troubled times. As a way to engage job seekers and provide service to the business sector even when they may not have jobs to post, we are offering to provide a job hunting seminar on-site at any business forced to make layoffs in 2009. If you haven't seen the letter we sent, there's a copy at my blog,… Continue

The Job Board market through the Realtor lens.

In 2003, a friend of mine had opened his own real estate office. He had worked for a national realtor for only two years, and was upset about the commission structure. In 2005, he invited me to get on board- get my license and start making real money. This time for the real estate market is very comparable to the job board market… Continue
